In mathematics, fractions are the numerical quantities that are not a whole number. A fraction simply tells us about the parts of a whole and can be identified as a slash. The upper number of any slash called numerator and lower number of a slash is called denominator for example if we are having ½ in our question it means we have a fraction and 1 is the numerator and 2 is the denominator in the given fraction. Fractions can be added, subtracted, multiplied and divided. Sometimes it is really difficult for the students to multiply fractions because it is a bit confusing for them. It can be their worst nightmare because of getting confused and indifferent. The formula of multiply fractions is a/b * c/d =ac/bd in this formula, we can clearly see that we have to multiply their numerators to get another numerator and we have to multiply their denominators to get another denominator, in short, we have to simplify this fraction into their lowest form. It is not only a difficult task for students to solve them but for teachers also to make them understand about this concept. Teachers can use models and charts with examples written on it to make students understand how to multiply fractions with whole numbers, multiplication of negative fractions, multiplying proper fractions and multiply improper fractions. Multiply fractions is the basic technique for the students of preschool to teach the beginners, level to make them understand the complex structures of mathematics since an early age to overcome difficulty at their high schools. To multiply fractions, we have to keep some other things in mind that the answer will be higher than the actual fractions. Here we are writing some rules to multiply fractions
• Multiply numerators first. • Multiply their denominators and write its answer as a new denominator. • Multiplication of fractions can be shown in the form of a rectangle. • If more than one fraction is in the question to multiply then do it subsequently and step by step. • Multiplication of fractions is same as the repeated addition of fractions. • You can reverse the order of the factors and answer will remain the same. • You can break numbers apart to make multiplying easier.
